Rachael Abler is an outdoor professional serving as the Assistant Director of Outdoor Education at Colorado College, and has worked in collegiate outdoor programming for nearly a decade.  Her greatest passions in her work are providing first time experiences for student participants, and training student trip leaders to lead their peers. Rachael discovered the love of the outdoors as a child, as a native Michigander she enjoyed access to endless adventures. Exploring the woods of her backyard, and traveling “up north” for camping, biking, paddling and skiing trips with family and friends. So you could say, in an informal context, she has been adventure racing from the very beginning! Rachael was introduced to the world of adventure racing in 2009 by taking an “Adventure Racing 101” course with a local outdoor community group, partaking in a few local races before taking a pause to pursue grad school and her career.  Now established in her role, Rachael has shifted focus back on adventure racing, driven by the camaraderie, challenge, growth, fun and the sense of adventure these races provide. When not actively adventure racing, Rachael is training, volunteering or researching upcoming races, and is motivated to help others enter the sport of Adventure Racing as well.  She is thrilled to join the Adventure Race Cooperative and is excited to help see the ARC’s goals come to fruition!

Jess Evans (Colorado) was first introduced to adventure racing in 2007 when she volunteered for a Flying Squirrel Adventures 12-hour adventure race at Otter Creek Park in Brandenburg, KY.  From then on she was hooked! Her first race was "The Fig" in 2009, a 12-hour adventure race in Red River Gorge, Kentucky - still her favorite race. She raced as a solo female for several years.  She has now raced with many teams through the years from Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio, including 361 Adventures Chickpoints. In 2017, she ventured into the world of expedition racing completing the Breakdown Eexpedition 4-day race and Cowboy Tough ARWS 6-day. Since then she has moved to Colorado and started Athena Adventures, partnering with 361 Adventures to bring more races to that region. Weekly, she writes an AR blog that can be found on 361 Adventures website (  She loves adventure racing and is eager to help ARC expand the adventure racing footprint throughout the United States.  Jess will be helping out with the ARC quarterly newsletter and other ARC initiatives.
